Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Voxdrop is designed for privacy-first anonymous communication. You can share voice notes, chat privately, and talk to strangers — all without creating an account. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and what we do not store.

2. Data We Collect

• Anonymous identifier: A random ID generated on your device (stored in browser/app storage). This is not linked to your name, email, or phone number.
• Voice recordings: Audio files you upload, along with metadata (duration, category, tags).
• Profile data: Optional display name, bio, and avatar seed. No real identity is required.
• Usage data: Play counts, likes, reactions, and listening history (linked to your anonymous ID) to power features like "For You" recommendations.
• Push notification tokens: If you enable push notifications on mobile, we store a device token to deliver notifications. This can be removed at any time.

3. Whispers (Private Chat)

Whispers uses end-to-end encryption (ECDH P-256 + AES-256-GCM on web, NaCl box on mobile). Messages are encrypted on your device before being sent. We cannot read the content of your encrypted messages. Encrypted message payloads are stored temporarily on our servers for delivery and are auto-deleted after 24 hours. Images and voice notes shared in Whispers use time-limited presigned URLs that expire.

4. Live Stranger Chat — No Data Stored

Live anonymous stranger chat is designed to leave no trace:

• Messages are ephemeral and automatically deleted when either user leaves or skips.
• Chat sessions have a 1-hour maximum lifetime and all data is auto-purged.
• No chat history is retained on our servers after a session ends.
• We do not log or store the content of stranger chat messages.
• Automated content moderation runs in real-time but does not store flagged content.

5. How We Use Data

We use collected data solely to operate the Service: store and play voice recordings, deliver messages, show your profile, power recommendation features, and prevent abuse. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not run targeted advertising.

6. Data Retention

• Voice notes: Stored until you delete them or they are removed for policy violations.
• Whisper messages: Auto-deleted after 24 hours.
• Live chat messages: Deleted immediately when the session ends.
• Notifications: Auto-expire after 30 days.
• Chat media (images, voice notes in chat): Stored with time-limited access URLs; underlying files are cleaned periodically.

7. Storage and Security

Data is stored on AWS infrastructure (DynamoDB, S3) in the ap-south-1 region. We use HTTPS for all communications, end-to-end encryption for private chats, and DynamoDB TTL for automatic data expiry. No system is completely secure; use the Service with that in mind.

8. Your Choices

• You can delete your own voice notes at any time.
• You can clear your browser/app storage to remove your anonymous ID.
• You can use a recovery code to transfer your identity to a new device.
• You can leave any Live chat session at any time, and all data is immediately deleted.
• You can unregister push notification tokens to stop receiving notifications.

9. Children

Voxdrop is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child is using the Service, contact us at support@voxdrop.world.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. The "Last updated" date will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
